What to Gather for Your Wedding Detail Photos

I begin every single wedding day by photographing your details. These images aren’t just about pretty flat-lays (though they are beautiful). They’re meant to tell the story of your day from the textures, to the heirlooms, to the thoughtful touches you spent months planning.

Having these items gathered and ready allows me to create intentional, editorial detail photos while keeping your morning relaxed and on schedule.

Here are some suggested item to include:

Bride Details

  • All rings (engagement ring + both wedding bands)
  • Full invitation suite (2 complete sets, if possible)
  • Jewelry (earrings, necklace, bracelets)
  • Shoes
  • Dress
  • Veil
  • Garter
  • Perfume
  • Bouquet
  • Any sentimental items (heirlooms, something borrowed, etc.)

Groom Details

  • Shoes
  • Cufflinks
  • Tie or bowtie
  • Cologne
  • Boutonniere (at least 2, if available)
  • Any sentimental items

Styling Extras

  • Ring box
  • Ribbon, silk, or fabric
  • Decorative trays or small styling pieces

In addition to the traditional list, I’d encourage you to think outside of the box! Are you having a spring wedding and your wedding is filled with color? Add some vibrant citrus fruit to include in your photos!

💡 Tip: Place everything together in a box or bag the night before so nothing is missed.

These details help preserve the full story of your wedding day, not just how it looked, but how it felt. Years from now, when you can’t physically grasp all of these items, you’ll be so glad these moments were documented with care.
